Some thing just sound complicate when they really are not. Adding a Twitter widget to your website is one of those things. In just a few simple steps, you can have a cool little space on your website where your twitters are displayed for all to see. It adds a little bit of a fun factor and looks cool too.
CollectiveIdentity.net is powered by Drupal and as I was assembling this site I thought I'd throw in a Twitter widget. As with most things web related, there are many ways to skin this cat. Here is how I did it.
1. Log in to Twitter.
2. Navigate to http://twitter.com/badges
3. Decide where you want to put it the badge. Twitter supports many different styles and formats, including myspace, blogger, facebook, and typepad. Since I'm using Drupal I selected other to get the flash and HTML/Javascript widgets.
4. The next step is to choose a badge style that displays just your tweets or tweets with-friends. I choose the just me tweets, but the other styles are equivalent from a setup perspective.
5. Twitter allows a small amount of customization on these widgets. Play around to get the color scheme that best suits you and where you are going to put the widget.
6. Once customized you are given a code snippet that you put on your site. In my case, I created a new block for Drupal, named the block, and pasted in the flash code into the body. Make sure that the input filter is set correctly to accept full HTML code. I then placed the block on my site and I was done. I used a block, but I just as easily could have used a story, or page type node.

8. Profit!
Placing a Twitter widget on your site couldn't be easier. I was able to do this on my site in less than 5 minutes and it works flawlessly. Add some flare to your own website or page with this simple little trick courtesy of Twitter.com.
